More Big Picture News

The Big Picture High School is making a new round of headlines. Well-known educator Greg Michie has an op-ed in today's Sun-Times. Like me, Greg acknowledges the school has room to improve, but is making strides and is performing better than other local schools on the key measures of attendance and dropout rates.

The February issue of Catalyst Chicago looks at Big Picture as a case study in what a district shouldn't do once it has agreed to give a school autonomy.

Meanwhile, students and parents have begun a process of enlisting local political support to keep the school open. We'll see if it pays off at the February board meeting.
